Regulating immigration and securing the U.S. southern border was Trump’s key campaign promises but hard to fulfill without the support of Democrats.
I feel having the Democrats in with us is absolutely vital because this should be a bipartisan there, there should be a bill of love, truly, should be a bill of love.
The meeting focused on how to deal with as many as 800,000 young immigrants who don’t have a legal status in the United States, they were protected from deportation by a program know as DACA until Trump ended it last year.On Monday he also ended the temporary protective status for people from El Salvador.Trump also wants to end the visa lottery program which allows randomly selected applicants to immigrate into the United States but on Tuesday, Trump signaled he is willing to compromise in order to move on to finalizing a permanent immigration bill.
It has to be a bill to end chain migration, chain migration is bringing in many many people with one and often it doesn’t work out very well. Thus, many people are not doing us right and I think a lot of people in the room,I’m not sure I can speak for everybody but a lot of the people in this room want to see chain migration ended. What Trump and many Americans call chain migration, others see as reuniting immigrants with family members left behind. Democrats have opposed ending DACA but exit the meeting Tuesday saying there is room for compromise.I think the president actually wants to strike a deal. Now whether that deal is strikable is another question but I think is possible.
But Trump will have to find a way to appease hardline lawmakers who are holding him to his campaign promise. He persistently and relentlessly promised to put and end to DACA.Well technically he’s announced that that will happen on March 5th of this year but also he’s working to redirect after traded for a series of immigration enforcement deals.
Trump said he’s eager to start the construction of a wall on the southern US border to fulfill one of his key campaign promises that project is now part of wider negotiations on US border security.
